Professionally approved, specialist training for Psychotherapists and Psychologists who want to work with adults struggling with Emotional Eating, Binge Eating and Bulimia. 

Our clinical training has been awarded 28 CPD points by:

Clinical Training

Our structured, time-limited program for Emotional Eating, Binge Eating and Bulimia is built around four core pillars of support which we will comprehensively cover in Training  Weeks 1 - 4:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

  • Neuroscience
  • Mindfulness and Self-Compassion

Business and Marketing Support

Week 5 and then throughout the year, we provide additional training and support in marketing your specialist skills and attracting clients to your practice.

Week 1

  • Overview of Eating Disorders

Video 2 - 60 mins

Session 1 Intake Session and CBT Tool #1.

Video 3 - 60 mins

Session 2 Nutritional Rehabilitation – preparing and priming the client for their 1st Nutritional Therapy session.  CBT Tool #2.

Week 2

Video 4 - 60 mins

Neuroscience #1.

  • Understanding the brain’s role in maintaining binge eating as a coping strategy. Breaking Autopilots and Habit Loops.

Video 5 - 60 mins

Neuroscience #2. 

  • How the stress response maintains anxiety and fear.  Instant vs delayed gratification – long term implications of maintaining the disorder / introduction to barriers.

Family of Origin.

  • How the past continues to play out in the present.

Week 3

Barriers, filters and values.

  • Uncovering conscious and unconscious blocks to change.

  • How and why clients maintain maladaptive coping strategies, and how to explore this.

  • Checking in on three key areas to ensure chances of success are optimised.

Week 4

Introducing self-love and self-acceptance, taking full responsibility and letting go of what no longer serves.

Week 5

  • How to offer a shorter program to suitable clients.

From Surf to Sign up – Initial client consultation, pre-assessment questionnaire and software requirements.

Video 15 - 60 mins

Marketing your new speciality – supports and resources from Eating Freely to get your name and new program out to your local community and appropriate referrers.

In order to attend this advanced, specialist training, you must:

  • Be a fully qualified mental health professional - eg. Psychotherapist, Psychologist, MLSW, MFT
  • Be a member of a recognised accrediting body; and
  • Hold current professional indemnity and public liability insurance that covers working with clients in a therapeutic setting.

Training is delivered in an online, blended learning format. 

You will combine watching pre-recorded video training, with self-directed reading and weekly live group calls online over a five-week period to complete our comprehensive course.

You can expect to need around 6.5 hours a week to complete the training program.
